Rhythm is innate and the universal language of music reaches us all. Our regular group drum classes provide a fun way to embrace an understanding and experience of world rhythms, whilst developing a musical language to express your own inner groove.

Our classes focus on technical aspects of drumming such as time keeping, phrasing and the ‘living repertoire’ (a sequence of rhythms with unique introductions, transitions and patterns). Participants enjoy mental exercises for cognition and coordination, improving mind/body connection.

Classes provide the opportunity for participants to access and utilise new skills as they develop, maintaining neural plasticity throughout our lives. Challenge yourself to keep learning in an all-inclusive and non-judgemental environment.

Group drumming is a great way to connect with your local community in a healthy and positive way. Stay passionate, inspired and continue to grow as a unique individual and as part of a thriving community.

FAQs

  • Absolutely not. All classes are open to beginners. We will introduce you to a rhythm at a level suitable for you. All rhythms have simple to complex variations that allow classes to be all inclusive. You will quickly gain confidence as your skills improve.

  • No, we have a large and eclectic collection of global percussion instruments. We typically start beginners on a hand drum (often an African Djembe) or a single bass drum (Samba style Surdo). Please get in touch with us ahead of coming along to a class so that we can ensure we have enough drums for everyone.

    If you’re wanting to accelerate your learning, it would be helpful to have a drum to practice with in between classes. We have a range of drums for sale that you are welcome to ‘try before you buy’.
