KAYA BOOM

Kaya Boom is a multi-instrumentalist and seasoned performer having played at festivals all over Australia such as Falls, Woodford, and Sydney Festival. He has been a passionate drum teacher for over 22 years, teaching community classes, school groups, workshops and one-on-one lessons.

From the earliest of ages Kaya was called to play rhythms. Beginning on the piano and didgeridoo, Kaya had the good fortune growing up in a household rich in creativity and full of instruments. His passion has taken him on a lifelong journey into the ‘way of the drum’, exploring themes of intention, tension and integrity. He is a prolific percussionist who has spent his life learning from world percussion masters.

Kaya has a patient, caring and sensitive teaching style that is inclusive of all abilities. He is a master drummer with a unique ability to explain and breakdown rhythms, making them accessible to everyone. He facilitates drum groups that are well-balanced, respectful and non-judgemental.

We aim to witness and nurture the magic of life and put a sparkle in the corner of your eyes. We want to lift the vibration of people, communities and the quality of our daily practices with the universal language of music.

We utilise the practice of group drumming and communal rhythm-making to orient ourselves and our experiences in time and space. For us, playing in multiple time signatures and poly-rhythms reflects our interconnected and dynamic relationships with ourselves, each other and our environments.

We are not just a prayer (although we do believe intention setting is completely powerful), we are a science and skills based organisation with a razor sharp focus on groove, feel and fun.
