Hand Pan Workshop

$250.00

Handpan Transformation – 3 Hour Workshop

The handpan is a beautifully resonant steel instrument with a soothing, melodic sound that blends rhythm, melody, and mindfulness. Played with the hands rather than sticks, its rich, flowing tones invite relaxation, creativity, and musical connection. Whether you’ve never played before or already have some experience, the handpan is an inspiring instrument that is easy to begin and rewarding to explore.

Join facilitator Kaya Boom for a hands-on 3-hour workshop designed to give you a solid foundation in handpan playing.

A key focus of the workshop is learning the right touch. You’ll discover how to strike the instrument with a relaxed, efficient technique that brings out its full resonance, allowing every note to sing with clarity and warmth.

Using beautiful D Minor Pentatonic Pi Handpans, you’ll learn:

  • The fundamentals of handpan technique and touch

  • Scale patterns to help you move confidently around the instrument

  • Which notes naturally complement each other and how to create simple harmonies and possible chord combinations

  • How to build flowing melodies with confidence

  • Rhythmic patterns and grooves that support and enhance your playing

  • How to combine rhythm and melody into expressive musical pieces

  • Group playing techniques and musical interaction

  • A relaxing guided sound journey to conclude the workshop

All instruments are beautiful Pi Handpans handcrafted by local maker Mat Ledgar (Pan Man). Handpans will be provided for the workshop, and instruments will also be available for purchase for anyone wishing to continue their musical journey at home.

No musical experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity, your hands, and a willingness to explore the magic of rhythm, melody, and sound.
